Melissa Augustino, PharmD, BCPS is the Associate Director of Pharmacy for Quality, Regulatory, and Medication-Use Systems at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Howard County General Hospital, and completed a PGY-2 in Medication-Use Safety at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Augustino oversees and is primarily responsible for medication safety and regulatory compliance, the Drug Information Service, the medication formulary and associated policies, and the Department’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program. She is a member of various committees supporting patient and medication quality and safety, and leads and participates in numerous multi-disciplinary initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, therapeutic appropriateness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
